Dr. Joel Wong
Chair, Counseling and Educational Psychology, Indiana University


Dr. Wong's presentation is titled, "Fostering Mattering: Addressing Discrimination by Omission." He is a Professor of Counseling Psychology and Chair of the Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology at Indiana University Bloomington. Dr. Wong graduated with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin (UT) and completed his pre-doctoral internship at UT’s Counseling and Mental Health Center. His research interests include Asian American mental health, the psychology of men and masculinities, and the psychology of gratitude and  encouragement. Dr. Wong’s professional interests include social justice, positive psychology interventions, and the intersection of social justice and positive psychology.  He is also a fellow of the Asian American Psychological Association and of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 17, 45, and 51).
