The 2019 Dennis H. May Conference on Diversity Issues and the Role of Counseling Centers will be held September 15-16 at the Illini Union. This year's theme is “Intersectionality in Practice: Supporting Students, Developing Leaders” The overarching theme allows us to examine how we as mental health professionals and student affairs practitioners interact with students and one another in ways that both support cultural humility and demonstrate an appreciation of the complex nature of intersectionality.
We are excited to announce that our keynote speaker is Dr. Jean Lau Chin, Professor at the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology at Adelphi University in New York. The title of her keynote is "Intersectionality and Cultural Competence in our Clinical Practice Today."
The Illini Union is acessible, and a map of acessibility features can be found here. If you need other accommodation or have questions, please contact conference planning chairs Nichole Evans or Joel Muller.
