Expressive Arts

The U and I Project is an effort by Counseling Center Paraprofessionals to use art as a way of creating dialogue about social identities and celebrating diversity on campus. Throughout our community, students, faculty, and staff are being asked to create a pennant in response to the following prompt: "What do I bring culturally to the University of Illinois? What do I wish people recognized about the diversity I bring?" This project comes from the perspective that art can be a powerful way to express oneself and that art need not be "professional" to have an impact.

This project stems from the Imagine Project, which was created by the Expressive Arts Florida Institute. The prompt people are given for the U and I Project stems from the spirit of the Inclusive Illinois initiative.
